Topical Vitamin B12

Vitamin B12 deficiency is often under-diagnosed in the general population, however it may accompany diseases such as gastritis, Crohn's disease, gastric ulcers, or sufferers of HIV/AIDS. Additionally persons who are strict vegans or those with predominantly a vegetarian diet, of diabetic patients on metformin medication, or those taking an-acids may suffer from vitamin B12 deficiency.

Vitamin B12 deficiency is often seen in, or accompanies conditions such as arthritis, Parkinsonís disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimerís disease, old age, or fibromyalgia.

Subnormal vitamin B12 concentrations have been associated with anaemia, dementia, neuropathy and subacute combined degeneration of the spinal cord.

Symptoms of mild to severe vitamin B12 deficiency include tiredness, anaemia, confusion, disorientation, urinary or faecal incontinence, memory loss, dementia, muscle weakness or fatigue, fibromyalgia.

Whilst vitamin B12 can be obtained by vitamin supplements, the vitamin B12 is poorly absorbed in patients with inflammatory bowel conditions such as those described above, and so is normally given by injection.
